유용한 영어 표현 4. Getting Dressed - A Man

안녕하세요, 공학도의 주식역학입니다~ 

오늘은 남자들이 옷을 입을 때 발생하는 영어 표현들에 공부해 보는 시간을 가져보려고 합니다.

여러분, 바지의 지퍼 (남대문)을 올릴 때, 어떻게 영어로 표현하시는지 아시나요? ㅎㅎ 

아래에 정답을 설명해 놓았습니다~ ㅎㅎ 

 

티셔츠, 양말등을 입을 때 영어로 어떻게 표현하시나요?

Put on 

이라는 동사를 이용해 표현하면 좋습니다. ㅎㅎ 

예를 들어서, 

He puts on a T-shirt. 이런 식으로 말이죠. 

하지만, 옷을 표현할 때, 헷갈리는 부분 중에 하나가 언제 A/Some/A pair of를 사용하는지 늘 헷갈립니다.

	A?	Some?	A pair of?
긴바지	-	Some pants	A pair of pants
반바지	-	Some shorts	A pair of shorts
티셔츠	A T-shirt	-	-
자켓	A jacket	-	-
셔츠	A shirt	-	-
양말	-	Some socks	A pair of socks
속옷	-	Some underwear Some underpants	A pair of underpants
신발	-	Some shoes	A pair of shoes
잠옷	-	Some pajamas	A pair of pajamas
안경	-	Some glasses	A pair of galsses

여기서~! 

You can say: "a sock", "a shoe"

But

When talking about clothes, do NOT say: "a pant", "a pajama", "an underpant", "a short", "a glass" 

일반적으로, pants, shorts, underpants, glasses는 복수형으로 사용하신다고 생각하시면 좋을 것 같아요~! 

바지를 입을 때 발생하는 표현들에는 

<Putting on a Pair of Pants>

Tom steps into his pants...

... then he pulls them up.

He fastens the waistband...

... and zips up the fly. 

He slips a belt through the belt loops...

...and buckles it.

남대문을 올리다... 정답은 바로 zips up the fly.라고 표현합니다 ^^ ㅎ 

셔츠를 입을 때 발생하는 표현들에는

<Putting on a Shirt>

Tom slips an arm into each sleeve. 

He buttons the shirt...

... and the cuffs.

He straightens his collar.

He tucks his shirt into his pants.

 

위에 재미있는 표현들이 있네요~ Slips an arm into each sleeve: 소매(sleeve)에 팔을 넣다고 표현할 때, Slip into라고 표현했습니다. 또, He tucks his shirt into his pants. 이라는 표현은 셔츠를 바지에 집어넣다는 뜻입니다. 집어넣다고 할 때, tucks라고 표현한다는 사실 알고 있었나요?
